For as long as I can remember when asked if I could have any super power what would it be I would always without hesitation respond with “to read people’s minds” I have always been fascinated with knowing exactly what someone is thinking. I think that is why I am so drawn to those that don’t feel the need for filters. They just lay it out there. Some view those as crass or tactless. I have tons of respect for those people. Let us not confuse them with people who are just mean. I am talking about pure unadulterated honesty. I respect it. Well, I recently experienced something that will forever change my mind on my superhero power.
I stumbled upon a conversation between 2 people about me. And yes, when I say stumbled I honestly mean stumbled. To see this very open conversation was truly like reading the minds of these 2 individuals. What I learned was what they really thought about me….needless to say it was not good. In fact it was horrible. At first I was monumentally sad then mad but the more and more I was able to analyze the situation I was able to walk away with a couple very valuable lessons. First and foremost, I have chosen to use a platform to express myself in hopes of helping and inspiring others. That puts a major target on my back. That is something that I have to accept if I want to continue on with this mission. Secondly, it is none of my business what others think of me. At the end of the day I know who I am, what I want, and that I am doing the very best that I can. I am not going to let fear of what others think of me stop me from doing what I want. We have to be strong in our mission to live wholeheartedly. Remember, our days are limited. We MUST stand up to the fear and be vulnerable everyday! We are going to get knocked down every once in a while. The question is are you going to stand up, dust yourself off, and keep on living your life? Hell yea you are!!!
