April Styles, Tips & Tricks

Spring 2023, in my interpretation, is the season of play. Imagine a child playing in the rain, galoshes, rain overalls, jacket, and hood…imagine the playful giggle and smile as they jump in puddles and kick water into the air. If that image had a color palette, it would describe this season to a T. This spring/summer we can expect tons of contrast which Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute explains beautifully, “Blending escapism with reality, wholesomeness, and joy, we embrace the exploration of extreme contrast in mood and color”.

A rainy day is such a juxtapose…although it’s gloomy and gray it can also be soothing and offers a great deal of peace. Think about the tapping of the rain drops on the windows…rhythmic and gentle…the smell of fresh rain….fresh and fragrant.

Let’s use the cue given by New York Fashion Week and Pantone and think about what this means for hair.

-Muted yet high contrast tones

-Strong shapes…heavy curly bob

-Contrasting lengths..shag…mullet.

-Bangs with benefits…2 looks hair up and down

The spring/summer 2023 color palette shows us it’s a season of mix and match…rules schmules. Who knows, fall/winter 2023 might reel us back in and have us living under some sort of fashion construct…but spring/summer we LIVE LOUD…or quiet, the choice is really yours.
